Basic Safety Training Course (BST)

The Basic Safety Training (BST) is the standard emergency, safety and survival training required by IMO for anyone working at sea.

NOTE

Ref DGS order 17, 2021 BST course divided into two sections part A and part B practical. Candidates can join the virtual classes and obtain part A certificate once the EXIT examination is cleared, the certificate validity will be 18 months.

when the candidates successfully complete the practical training part B the certificates will get updated to 5 years

Part B practical training will be conducted on our campus and when the order issued by the DG shipping/ State government. The candidates will have to complete the practical training within a period according to the directives from the DG shipping

The Course cover basic induction training in safety procedures and accident prevention, it also familiarises trainees with the employment conditions and working environment on board.

Outlines precautions for minimizing the risk of fire, the causes of fires and how to extinguish them. Also practical training using fire fighting equipment and breathing apparatus to extinguish various types and sizes of fires.

Teaches the actions to be taken by individuals to protect themselves in emergency situations and includes practical training using life jackets and inflatable life rafts.

A combination of theory and practical training for basic first aid and life-saving skills.

• All trainees must be certified by a DGS approved doctor, to be in good health.

•  INDoS Number is Mandatory.

• As per DGS Order 11 of 2022, the course will be conducted in our campus, traditional learning.
• Vaccination Certificate- 2nd Dose (Soft Copy)
• In case the participant holds the 1st Dose of Vaccination Certificate OR the Vaccination is not done, the RT PCR test has to be taken 48 hrs prior to the practical date. (RTPCR Test is required if a single dose of Covisheild or Covaxin is taken)
• Candidates who have taken Johnson & Johnson (J&J) single-dose vaccine will be allowed without an additional RTPCR test.
• As per DGS Order 20 of 2020, successful completion of E-learning through the DGS website is mandatory. Prior to joining virtual class the candidates to successfully complete the e-Learning module for the particular modular course or at least enroll for the e-Learning module and produce the proof.
• Please confirm your photo and signature in the seafarer profile are updated/upload as per DGS order.

• ONLY applicable for those who have obtained digital certificates of 18 months (PART A) and to upgrade from 18 months to 5 years.
• The 18 months Part A certificate can be from any D.G. Shipping Approved MTI .
• A copy of their Valid DGS Approved Medical Certificate
• The candidates need to bring their own boiler suits & Safety shoes to attend the practical training otherwise he/she will not be allowed to participate and the fee paid will be forfeited
• Candidates to bring their own clothes & towel to effect change.
• Vaccination Certificate- 2nd Dose (Soft Copy)
